You know that feeling when you know what you want to say but you’re not sure how to say it or you can’t find the perfect way to say it? In the early days of working on Craft Happy, I quickly realised that my talents lay in capturing that special moment, phrase or sentiment and passing it from you to your loved one.
I somehow seem able to harness a mood and transmit it through my artwork. I say ‘somehow’ because when I first started, I often didn’t know how I did it. I have always been fairly intuitive but I wouldn’t say I am particularly sentimental so it did come as a bit of a surprise.
As I’ve developed though, I’ve worked hard to hone this and now I try to incorporate the message of caring into everything I do as it’s what I want you to feel when you purchase something from me.
The title of this blog piece is my purpose statement. Every successful business should have one and it should be the driver behind everything you do. I learnt the importance of this when I completed my 6-week Enterprising Worcestershire Startup Programme at the end of last year. To some people it may seem a tad unnecessary and even a bit cliché but I have honestly found it easier to complete most daily tasks now that I am guided by it. Everything from scheduling my day, writing my business plan, applying for funding, designing my marketing down to the most important tasks of creating my masterpieces is underpinned by this statement.
It’s also the best motivator… if I’m struggling to complete a task or I can’t get my head in the zone, it helps to remind myself why I’m here in the first place!
